Ecuadorian swimmer Anicka Delgado captured attention during the 2024 Olympics, becoming a fan favorite on social media. Competing in the 50-meter freestyle, she finished second in her heat but did not qualify for the semifinals.
Now back in California, Delgado is enjoying life as a college student at the University of Southern California (USC). Recently, she posted photos from campus on Instagram, simply captioning them, “We are SC.”
Followers quickly noticed a new addition: Delgado has tattooed the Olympic rings on the back of her right arm. A former CIF State Champion in California, she expressed her joy about her Olympic experience.
In her Instagram post, Delgado thanked her supporters, saying, “I am overwhelmed with the amount of love and support I have received over these past couple of days. Thank you to EVERYONE that I have met along this journey and in my life. Each one of you has left an impact and has helped me to reach my goals.”
Reflecting on her performance, she noted, “I swam my second-best time ever!!! I could not be more proud of myself for getting here. Over the past two days, I’ve felt so much peace. I’ve enjoyed every single second being here at the games and on this journey. I feel SO blessed to have made it this far. These are moments I will never forget.”
As the 2028 Olympics approach in Los Angeles, many hope to see Delgado compete again. However, she has not yet announced her plans for those games.
