100 tattoo artists from around the globe converge for a charitable event, highlighting artistic tattoo repair and its role in breast cancer recovery.
This weekend, the Príncipe de Asturias municipal auditorium in Torremolinos becomes the center of urban culture as it hosts the second edition of the Costa del Sol Tattoo Convention. Running from Friday to Sunday, the event gathers 100 national and international tattoo artists to showcase a variety of styles and techniques, ranging from old school and realism to neotraditional and blackwork.
Tattoo enthusiasts and curious attendees alike will have the chance to witness live tattoo sessions, daily contests, raffles, and exhibitions. There are also workshops designed to engage visitors of all experience levels, making the convention a hub of creativity and learning.
Diverse Offerings in Urban Art and Culture
This year’s convention expands its focus to encompass a broader range of urban art and culture. Attendees can explore cartoon and graffiti exhibitions, participate in breakdancing contests, and enjoy a series of musical performances. Notable acts include The King of the Sun Coast, a rockabilly band, and the Vintage Experience, a retro show inspired by New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Freestyle urban dance battles will also take center stage, offering exciting entertainment for fans of street culture.
As a special highlight, an exhibition of classic American cars will be displayed outside the auditorium on Saturday, adding a touch of nostalgia to the event.
Reconstructive Tattoos for a Cause
In addition to its artistic and cultural elements, the convention embraces a charitable mission. Proceeds from the event will support Untap and Asamma, organizations dedicated to raising awareness about artistic tattoo repair, particularly for individuals recovering from breast cancer. On Saturday, an oncology conference titled “What Do You Need to Know About Breast Cancer?” will address key topics for those affected by the disease. As part of this initiative, artists specializing in areola tattooing will offer free tattoos to women who have undergone mastectomies.
