Nicole Kidman, star of “A Family Affair,” is reportedly facing a challenging time as her relationship with her son Connor grows increasingly strained. Connor, 29, whom Kidman shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise, appears to be immersing himself further into the Church of Scientology, a controversial religion strongly associated with Cruise.
Recently, Connor unveiled a new tattoo of the number “1938.” This date holds significance as it marks the year Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote the unpublished manuscript “Excalibur,” which later influenced the Church’s teachings.
A source told New Idea, via The Daily Mail, “Nicole’s ache for her son is very real and extremely painful. But seeing Connor double down on his devotion to Scientology with a permanent inking on his body will be hard for her to take.”
The tattoo is reportedly seen as an indication that Connor holds a special status within the Church, possibly as a “prince” of Scientology, given his father’s prominent role in the religion.
Connor and his sister, 31-year-old Isabella, have reportedly had a distant relationship with Kidman since their parents’ 2001 divorce and Kidman’s subsequent departure from Scientology. Both siblings have remained members of the Church.
Kidman also shares two daughters, Sunday, 16, and Faith, 13, with her current husband, Australian singer Keith Urban.
Tom Cruise also has an 18-year-old daughter, Suri, with ex-wife Katie Holmes. Holmes and Suri have a strained relationship with Cruise following their exit from Scientology, making it unlikely that Suri will assume any prominent role within the Church in the future.
