A Bengaluru tattoo artist, Ritesh Aghariya, 41, owner of Tattoo Sutra in central Bengaluru, has been booked by the police for allegedly tattooing derogatory remarks against the police on a client’s chest. The controversy arose when the artist himself posted a picture of the tattoo on social media.
The Cubbon Park police acted on their own initiative and filed a case under Section 352 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), citing intentional insult to police authorities. The complaint was lodged by Police Sub-Inspector Chethan S G, who also serves as the social media in-charge at Cubbon Park police station.
According to the complaint, SI Chethan came across the tattoo image on Instagram, which reportedly contained abusive language directed at the police. He emphasized the need for strict action against such social media posts.
Following the complaint, the police summoned Ritesh Aghariya for questioning. He was subsequently released with a warning regarding the seriousness of the offense. Section 352 of the BNS stipulates imprisonment ranging from two to five years for intentionally causing insult to breach the peace.
