The 10th annual Okanagan Tattoo Show is set to kick off this weekend at the Kelowna Curling Club, promising a vibrant celebration of tattoo artistry over three days. Tattoo enthusiasts can look forward to a diverse lineup of over 200 top tattoo artists from around the globe.
Kyle Hoffarth, owner of Narrow Waters Tattoo on Pandosy Street in Kelowna, expressed his excitement about the event, noting it’s a prime opportunity to discover new talents, especially those from out of town. Hoffarth and his team are gearing up for a weekend filled with tattooing at multiple stations, showcasing a wide array of designs.
The event is not just about scheduled appointments; it’s also a chance for spontaneous walk-ins throughout the weekend. Hoffarth emphasized the importance of this casual approach, allowing artists to connect with new clients and showcase their work to a wider audience.
“We’re limiting our daily bookings to make room for walk-ins. It’s a great way to interact, share ideas, and appreciate the diverse styles on display,” said Hoffarth.
From realism to black and grey, Japanese to American Traditional, the show promises something for every tattoo enthusiast. Tautu Ellis from Bertram and Company Tattoo highlighted the cultural significance, bringing Polynesian traditional tattooing to the forefront.
“For me, this convention is like Christmas for tattoo artists. It’s where we gather, exchange ideas, and celebrate our craft in a supportive community,” Ellis remarked.
The Okanagan Tattoo Show not only serves as a platform for artists to showcase their skills but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among tattoo enthusiasts and professionals alike.
