MADERA, Calif. — Need a tattoo removed?
A new program offering free tattoo removal services has been launched in Madera through the collaboration of multiple agencies.
Early Thursday morning, a line of people formed outside the Madera County Justice Center, eager to have their tattoos removed. Within the first hour of the four-hour event, over 30 people had already shown up.
These services are provided by Madera County Probation and Mobile Tattoo Removal Experts and will be available on select future dates.
Minors can also benefit from the program but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
“We hope that our community takes full advantage of this free opportunity. It’s a fresh start for a lot of people. Even if it’s not gang-related, come and take advantage,” said Maria Maciel, Deputy Probation Officer Supervisor with Madera County Probation.
Maciel emphasized that the services are available to the entire community, not just probationers and parolees.
“It’s a huge impact on our employment boundaries. So, if we focus on the hands, neck, and face, they have a higher opportunity to gain employment,” she explained.
The services are limited to residents of Madera County and the city. This event marked the second clinic organized by the agencies.
The next clinic is scheduled for September 5th at the Madera County Justice Center.
