Football fans in Berlin are commemorating Euro 2024 with free tattoos, making their memories of the tournament permanent.
Visitors to the fan zone in Berlin during Euro 2024 can get a free tattoo, courtesy of tattoo artist Enaitz Greaney. However, securing an appointment is challenging, as Greaney can only create around a dozen poke tattoos daily. Fans can choose from several flash tattoo designs.
Greaney noted that the Berlin bear and the local 030 dialing code are among the most popular designs. “It’s just a fun way to decorate the body,” he told Euronews.
Julia G, an HR manager, decided to get a tattoo of the bear outline on her shoulder. “I thought this would be a nice memory of this time, of the beautiful summer. That’s why I decided to get a tattoo today,” she said.
One of Greaney’s highlights was giving an “older gentleman” his first tattoo. Julia mentioned that poke tattoos, done with a single needle, are less painful than standard tattoos.
Tattoos are available by appointment, offered on the day, but queues start forming as the Berlin fan zone, known as the Fan Mile, opens at 2 pm CET.
