The Meaning Behind CM Punk’s Pepsi Tattoo Isn’t That Profound

by Jessica

Wrestling fans were astonished when CM Punk returned to the WWE ring after a seven-year hiatus, but the wrestler is back in action.

CM Punk’s tattoos, especially the prominent Pepsi logo on his arm, are integral to his identity. While most tattoos carry significance, the reason behind this one isn’t as profound as some might think.

CM Punk is known for the numerous tattoos that cover his arms and other visible skin. However, the tattoo that garners the most attention is the large Pepsi logo on his left shoulder.

Surprisingly, CM Punk’s reason for the tattoo isn’t deep. In multiple interviews, he has explained that he simply likes Pepsi.

People often get tattoos of brands they like, but it can be a controversial choice, especially for someone with an on-screen career like CM Punk. Despite having the logo permanently inked, he is not sponsored by Pepsi.

According to Comic Book, Bruce Prichard, co-host of “Something Else to Wrestle,” knows the backstory. He mentioned that part of the inspiration came from CM Punk reading about one of his favorite stars getting a Coca-Cola tattoo for a similar reason.

“CM Punk’s a unique individual, he follows his own path, and he has a straightforward way of looking at things. People often try to complicate it. It’s simple – he doesn’t drink, he doesn’t do drugs, and he wants to live his way and be the best. It boils down to that simple philosophy,” Prichard told the outlet.

A Symbol of His Straight-Edge Lifestyle

Longtime followers of CM Punk know that he leads a straight-edge lifestyle, meaning he doesn’t consume alcohol or drugs. According to Bruce, this choice is largely due to his father’s alcoholism. Being sober is a crucial part of CM Punk’s public image.

“CM Punk’s father was an alcoholic, and Punk did not have a good relationship with him growing up. He disliked the chaos around him and blamed it on his father’s alcoholism,” Bruce said.

While not all WWE fans appreciate CM Punk’s advocacy for his straight-edge lifestyle, it’s clear that it is a significant part of his identity, reflected in his tattoos.
