Hundreds gathered at the West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville this weekend for the 2nd Annual Locked Up Tattoo Convention and Dark Carnival, an event showcasing top tattoo artists from across the United States.
Organized by Wonders Oddities, the convention featured live tattoo sessions, competitive events, and displays of artists’ finest work. Joe Capone, owner of Steel-Skin Tattoo Company, highlighted the value of learning from fellow artists, emphasizing the continuous growth within the tattooing community.
Jasmine Jimenez, representing the Tattooed Army Pro Team from Massachusetts, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, noting the diverse styles and collaborative spirit among artists. She debunked stereotypes about tattooed individuals, describing many artists as warm-hearted people eager to share their artistic passion.
Capone stressed that despite the gathering of talented artists, the focal point remains on fulfilling clients’ tattoo desires, ensuring each design is unique and tailored to individual preferences.
In addition to tattoo showcases, the convention featured vendors, live music performances, food trucks, and ample opportunities for tattoo enthusiasts to explore the world of ink artistry.
