Paul Lee, 51, participated in a bike ride from London to Barrow in memory of Dave Myers. Upon returning to his hometown in Suffolk, Lee designed a tattoo to commemorate the event.
The tattoo, featuring a caricature of Myers’ smile and moustache along with the text “Dave Day 2024,” was inked on Lee’s arm.
“It’s a simple design, but it will remind me of this day for years to come,” Lee said. He plans to add color to the tattoo’s background, reflecting the Hawaiian shirt theme that many bikers wore during the ride. “Adding color will bring more life to the tattoo,” he added.
A biker for 30 years and a fan of the Hairy Bikers, Lee felt he couldn’t miss the memorial ride. This was his second visit to Barrow, having first gone to Greens Bakers and Confectioners after it was featured on the Hairy Bikers show.
“Being with like-minded people is always special, but this time was extraordinary,” Lee remarked. “The procession slowed down as we entered the towns and villages, allowing us to interact with locals, which made the day even more memorable.”
Lee was surprised by the positive reaction to his Dave Day tattoo. “People love it. I’ve received many likes and comments. Maybe others will follow suit,” he said.
