Celebrities like Russell Crowe and Lulu are lending their artistic talents for a charitable cause at this year’s Glastonbury festival. They are among several stars who have crafted unique temporary tattoos, set to be distributed throughout the event and other festivals this summer.
Scheduled to kick off on June 26 at Worthy Farm in Somerset, Glastonbury will feature headliners like Dua Lipa, SZA, and Coldplay on the iconic Pyramid Stage.
Partnering with the charity WaterAid, these famous figures have designed tattoos that will be available at water bars, kiosks, and toilets across the festival grounds. Bloc Party, London Grammar, The Vaccines, Declan McKenna, Laura Whitmore, and Mia Regan are among those who have contributed water-themed designs.
Russell Crowe, known for his role in “Gladiator,” expressed his band’s excitement to perform at Glastonbury’s Acoustic Stage, marking their first time at the renowned venue. He emphasized the importance of clean water access, citing the global challenge it poses for millions.
Lulu, the Scottish singer, highlighted the staggering statistic that nearly one in ten people worldwide lack access to clean water near their homes. Her tattoo design, inspired by her song “Shout,” aims to amplify the call for clean water as a basic human right.
London Grammar’s Hannah Reid echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the plight of women who endure long journeys to fetch clean water for their families. Her band’s tattoo features a poignant message of love for water, crafted in elegant calligraphy.
WaterAid, marking its 30th year as an official charity partner of Glastonbury, continues its mission to provide clean water and sanitation to impoverished communities globally. At the festival, they not only support on-site water services but also raise awareness about their ongoing humanitarian efforts.
Through these creative collaborations, celebrities and festival-goers alike are uniting to advocate for universal access to clean water, making a meaningful impact both locally and globally.
