Carlisle’s Grey Street has a new addition that’s much more than just your average tattoo parlor. The Cult Tattoos, with its doors now wide open, promises to be a sanctuary for ink enthusiasts of all kinds.
With a motto that echoes inclusivity, “there is a place for everyone,” The Cult Tattoos aims to foster a warm and inviting atmosphere, catering to both first-timers and seasoned tattoo aficionados alike.
Sporting a gothic and ‘cultish’ vibe, the studio made its debut on Monday, May 20th. Leading the pack are studio manager Natalie Bell and head artist Callum Powe, renowned for his striking horror-inspired designs.
Natalie reminisces, “Callum was my tattooist for a few years. We had many conversations about our aspirations, and his dream of owning a studio stood out. So, we decided to join forces and make that dream a reality.”
“When envisioning the studio,” Natalie continues, “we didn’t want to blend into the crowd. Our goal was to create a space where people feel welcomed and connected to the artists. The name ‘Cult’ paired with our motto just clicked.”
At The Cult Tattoos, clients can expect both bespoke and custom designs, with walk-in slots also available. The team comprises tattoo artist Jess Graham, known for her finesse in fine-line blackwork and neo-traditional styles, and apprentice Nina Birschel, exploring the realm of dark-ornamental gothic designs.
“Our artists are keeping slots open for walk-ins,” Natalie explains. “Given our central location, near the university, it’s perfect for those spontaneous visits. Nina’s already had a handful of walk-ins on our second day, and we’re eager to maintain that momentum.”
Beyond tattoos, the studio also offers nail art by Nina, fondly known in the community as ‘Ninailz.’
Reflecting on the studio’s journey to opening day, Natalie expresses her excitement, saying, “It’s been a labor of love over the past five months. Seeing our doors open feels surreal. The artists feel right at home, which was our aim from the start. We’re all buzzing about what the future holds.”
The team at The Cult Tattoos extends an open invitation to everyone, urging them to swing by and experience the vibe firsthand as they embark on their journey to make a mark on Carlisle’s city center.
