The first floor of a building currently housing a hair salon in Clitheroe will be converted into a tattoo studio under new plans.
The Grade II listed building on Moore Lane, home to Hairways, will see the salon continue its operations on the ground floor after receiving council approval.
The new tattoo studio will occupy a single room on the first floor.
According to a heritage statement submitted to Ribble Valley Borough Council, the conversion will include installing a hand basin, tiling part of the room, painting the walls, and placing a clinical waste bin at the back of the property.
The statement explained: “The proposed use is to be a private tattoo studio space on the first floor, accessible by appointment only.
“Trading hours will be from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday, although some days may be unworked due to appointment changes or cancellations.
“This should not affect the surrounding community, as the operating hours are similar to those of nearby businesses.
“The overall appearance of the property will remain the same, with a possible small window decal for advertisement, in keeping with the traditional shopfronts in the town.
“This will provide the community with a safe and clinical space for professional tattoo services. It will offer a welcoming environment for current and future clients, increasing foot traffic in the town and creating more business opportunities for neighboring stores, restaurants, and bars.”
No objections were recorded on the council’s planning portal, and Lancashire County Council has approved the decision.
