Cara Delevingne, the prominent model and actress, made a notable appearance at the Olivier Awards hosted at the Royal Albert Hall this past Sunday. Among the highlights of her presence was the unveiling of her revised tattoo, addressing a previous typographical error that had captured fans’ attention.
In the preceding year, Delevingne’s arm tattoo had sparked discussion due to a spelling mistake. Originally intended to convey an Italian phrase signifying a ‘semi-conscious state,’ the tattoo had been marred by an error.
However, Delevingne has since taken steps to rectify the situation, a correction she proudly displayed at the prestigious awards ceremony.
Wearing an elegant backless gown, Delevingne strategically drew attention to her arm, showcasing the amended tattoo. The alteration involved enhancing an existing triangle design with a thicker line, effectively concealing the misspelled word.
Throughout the event, the model graciously posed for numerous photographs, offering a clear view of the corrected tattoo, signaling the successful resolution of the issue.
The genesis of the tattoo’s hiccup traces back to a previous unveiling where Delevingne posed topless, revealing a new abstract tattoo featuring a woman’s face positioned above the inscription ‘Dormiveglia’—an Italian term representing a ‘semi-conscious state.’
Accompanying the word was a dictionary definition, yet a discrepancy emerged when tattoo artist Matteo Nangeroni mistakenly substituted ‘waking’ for ‘walking,’ altering the intended meaning of the phrase.
The revised rendition now accurately reads: ‘Dormiveglia: The space that stretches between sleeping and walking,’ effectively reinstating the intended message behind Delevingne’s ink.
