Fans often show their admiration for their favorite artists in creative ways, and country music star Lainey Wilson encountered a unique form of devotion in 2022. While in Duluth, Minnesota, Wilson met a fan who had a large tattoo of her face on his arm, a gesture that caught her attention and sparked a viral conversation.
Wilson shared the encounter with her followers on Instagram, where she revealed that the fan’s tattoo left a lasting impression. The post quickly garnered reactions, with one fan commenting, “Now that’s when [you] know you’ve made it!” Wilson later opened up about the emotional moment during an appearance on The Bobby Bones Show.
Despite the obvious admiration, Wilson admitted she was concerned the fan might regret his decision in the future. “I hope you really like me several years from now, because you’re gonna be living with that forever,” she said, laughing. Host Bobby Bones jokingly advised Wilson to avoid anything that could later embarrass the tattoo’s owner.
Although she couldn’t envision getting a tattoo of her own, Wilson expressed amazement at the tattoo’s detail and size, remarking, “It was unreal. I put my head next to the tattoo of me, and it was the same exact size.”
Wilson’s Duluth fan isn’t the only one to honor her with ink. In 2024, she shared a heartwarming moment in a video, where she wrote a personal message on the shoulder blade of a woman named Charlie Johnson. Johnson later had the message, featuring the title of Wilson’s song “Wildflowers & Wild Horses,” tattooed on her.
Despite inspiring numerous tattoos, Wilson remains ink-free herself. She told Taste of Country that while she doesn’t have any tattoos, she hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility. “I don’t think I would [get one], but never say never,” she said, leaving the door open for future decisions.
