A new tattoo and permanent makeup studio has opened its doors in Waite Park, bringing a fresh, upscale experience to body art enthusiasts in the St. Cloud area.
The Ink Social, founded by local tattoo artist Lexus Latzka Illies, began welcoming clients in early March. After five years of working out of rented booths in the region, Latzka Illies decided to turn her long-held dream of owning a studio into reality.
“I’m the type of person who’s always thinking, ‘What’s next?'” she said. “The idea popped into my head, and I couldn’t shake it. So I started looking for a space.”
That search led her to a location in Waite Park, where she collaborated with building owners to renovate the space in just two months. The result is Ink Social, a boutique-style tattoo studio focused on creating a luxurious and welcoming environment.
Specializing in Fine Line Tattoos and Permanent Makeup
Ink Social offers both walk-in and booked appointments for a range of services. Latzka Illies, alongside apprentice and fellow artist Mia Truelove, specializes in fine line tattoos and permanent makeup, including eyebrow enhancement. The studio is also exploring plans to add lip blushing and eyeliner tattoo services in the future.
With a clientele that initially consisted largely of women, Latzka Illies found herself often taking on the services other artists avoided. That experience influenced her commitment to building a more inclusive and comfortable space for clients who may be new to tattooing or previously had negative experiences.
“It’s an upscale experience, and it’s a lot more welcoming,” she said. “If anyone is nervous about getting a tattoo, or had a bad experience before, we want to offer a second chance.”
Community Engagement and Grand Opening
Ink Social will host a grand opening event on May 3, offering the public a chance to tour the studio, enjoy refreshments, and participate in family-friendly activities, including temporary tattoos for children. Giveaways and one-night-only discounts on appointments booked during the event will also be available.
Latzka Illies says community involvement will be central to Ink Social’s mission. Future plans include hosting flash events to raise funds for local charities and organizing tattoo events to celebrate individuals overcoming addiction and achieving sobriety.
One personal touch displayed in the studio is a sign that reads “Empowered women empower women”—a gift from her mother that has followed Latzka Illies through every stage of her tattooing journey.
“I hope this shop can offer a positive, unintimidating tattoo experience,” she said. “A lot of people feel nervous walking into a studio. Here, we want clients to feel seen, heard, and completely comfortable.”
Ink Social is currently accepting new clients and continues to seek additional artists to join its growing team.
