Magician David Blaine recently shared a surprising detail about one of his tricks involving an invisible tattoo, revealing just how far he goes to create mind-bending illusions.
In an interview with People magazine, the 52-year-old magician spoke about a trick involving disappearing ink, which he had done with the renowned tattoo artist Bang Bang in New York City. “I did one with disappearing ink with this incredible tattoo artist in New York City, Bang Bang,” Blaine explained.
However, in a candid moment, Blaine admitted that he had completely forgotten about the tattoo. “I made a playing card prediction. And I haven’t used it yet. As a matter of fact, I even forgot that I did it because it’s invisible,” he said, adding that the tattoo can only be revealed under specific lighting.
Blaine further elaborated on the trick, noting, “It shows up with a certain light, and you just reminded me that I have this tattoo on my left wrist because it’s invisible.”
The tattoo was part of one of his many impressive feats, and Blaine seemed genuinely surprised that it had slipped his mind. “So I have an invisible tattoo that I didn’t even remember until you just told me,” he quipped.
In the same interview, Blaine also reflected on his dedication to magic, recalling a recent rehearsal for Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he performed for the entire staff. “On the airplane here, same thing. I was doing magic for everybody working on the plane and all the people in line for the bathroom,” Blaine shared, highlighting the constant nature of his craft. “That’s a constant. I fall asleep with a deck of cards in my hands and wake up with cards stuck to my face and body almost every day,” he concluded.
