The Villain Arts 4th Annual Tattoo Arts Festival brought together tattoo enthusiasts and artists from around the world at Park Expo Liberty Hall over the weekend. The event, which ran from Friday to Sunday, featured both local Charlotte-based tattooists and international talent, including artists from Ukraine. Several participants had also gained recognition from appearances on the popular television series Ink Master, according to organizers.
Beyond the tattoo artistry, the festival offered a variety of performances and attractions. Attendees were entertained by a contortionist, a burlesque performer, and stars from Ringling Brothers and America’s Got Talent.
Festivalgoers had the opportunity to receive tattoos from skilled artists while also enjoying competitions, live performances, and shopping for tattoo-related supplies and merchandise. “You get to see a lot of different types of artwork, different types of people—whether they are heavily tattooed or just lightly—in here having fun, mixed in with kids,” said Dr. Carl Blasphemy, the event’s M.C. and host.
Each day began with live performances and concluded with tattoo contest winners and the show’s closing ceremonies.
The festival is set to continue its tour across the country, making stops in cities such as Chicago, Tampa, and New Orleans through the end of the year.
