Savannah Guthrie Gets Second Tattoo with Drew Barrymore – A Sweet Tribute to Her Children

by Jessica

Savannah Guthrie, the beloved Today anchor, recently added another tattoo to her collection, and this time, it carries a heartwarming tribute to her two children. The 53-year-old TV personality shared the experience during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday, March 11. Guthrie revealed that she and Barrymore, who are close friends, got matching tattoos—this being their second inked adventure together.

The duo previously shared a tattoo in January 2023, when Guthrie and Barrymore got their first tattoos as part of a fun and personal bonding moment. On this occasion, they each chose new designs that held significant meaning. Guthrie opted for a heart, symbolizing her love for her family, while Barrymore chose the word “time” as a reflection of their ongoing friendship and personal growth.

In a touching segment from the show, the two hosts discussed the influence of their personal pasts on their current lives. Barrymore reflected on a recent conversation she had with Guthrie about her children’s education choices. “I was talking about my kids in school, and Savannah was helping me. I was feeling a little uncertain and insecure because I care about my kids’ journey in a different way than I cared about my own,” Barrymore explained. “Savannah, it was like exactly what I needed to hear from you.”

Guthrie, who has always been open about her own humble beginnings, responded by acknowledging the challenges of their pasts. “I feel so grateful every single day to wake up and get to be the anchor of the Today show. But there’s nothing about my background that could’ve suggested that would ever be possible,” she shared. “I grew up in Tucson, Arizona. I didn’t have any connections. I went to a big public high school. I got average grades. I ditched school 35 times my senior year and got suspended. But eventually, it all kinda works out.”

During the segment, Guthrie shared that the heart tattoo she got with Barrymore also has a special connection to her children, son Charley, 8, and daughter Vale, 10, whom she shares with her husband Michael Feldman. “I just want to say my little boy did one of the hearts and Vale did the other,” Guthrie explained, adding an extra layer of sentiment to her new ink.

The two hosts also reminisced about their first tattoo experience from January 2023, where they both decided to commemorate their friendship by getting inked together. At the time, Guthrie chose to have the words “all my love” tattooed horizontally across her forearm, in delicate script. The simple yet meaningful design was done with a single needle to keep it light and elegant.

For Guthrie, these tattoos serve as reminders of her personal journey, the love she holds for her family, and the bond she shares with Barrymore, all of which continue to inspire her.
