Vanna White, the beloved cohost of Wheel of Fortune, is embracing a new chapter, quite literally, with her very first tattoo. On Monday, White shared a video on Instagram detailing the experience, which was made even more special by the fact that her daughter, 27-year-old Gigi Santo Pietro, is the one who inked her.
“So here I am, I’m about to get my first tattoo. I have a beautiful daughter, Gigi, who is a tattoo artist,” White said, addressing her followers. With a lighthearted tone, White clarified, “She’s not making me do this, it’s my choice to do this.” However, Gigi, ever the playful daughter, mouthed to the camera, “I’m making her.”
The tattoo White chose was a small, pink heart on her wrist, a design she selected so she could “look at it every day, because she did it.” While White beamed with pride, her nerves quickly became apparent as she began the process, exclaiming, “I might pass out!” Despite her initial anxiety, once the needle touched her skin, White was pleasantly surprised. “That’s it? I don’t feel anything,” she said, relieved as Gigi completed the delicate tattoo.
Afterward, White showed off her new ink with a glowing smile, writing in her caption, “I will think of her [every time] I look at it,” accompanied by a pink heart emoji that mirrored her new tattoo.
White, who has been the face of Wheel of Fortune since 1982, is no stranger to monumental moments in front of the camera. She married restaurateur George Santo Pietro in 1990 and welcomed two children, son Nikko and daughter Gigi, in the years that followed. Gigi, who works as a tattoo artist at Lincoln Tattoo Company in Venice, Los Angeles, now shares this meaningful milestone with her mother.
As Wheel of Fortune continues its iconic run, White recently navigated a significant change after her longtime cohost, Pat Sajak, retired in 2023. White, initially uncertain about continuing the show without him, ultimately decided to stay on and now cohosts with Ryan Seacrest, who joined the show in September 2024. Seacrest made sure to honor White during his debut, saying, “I still can’t believe my luck in being here with you tonight, to continue this legacy of this incredible show with all of you, and of course my good friend Vanna White.”
This tattoo marks yet another unforgettable moment in White’s illustrious career, a small yet meaningful tribute to her daughter and their close bond.
