Joseph Finnegan, a 22-year-old property consultant from North Walsham, has commemorated his late grandfather with a poignant tattoo featuring a peregrine falcon soaring past Norwich Cathedral. The tattoo, in black and grey, holds deep personal significance for Finnegan, whose grandfather passed away in 2017 after a battle with motor neurone disease and dementia.
“My Grandad always loved watching the falcons on top of Norwich Cathedral. When they were being filmed, he would watch them all day, every day,” Joe explained. “I wanted to honour him with something truly meaningful.”
This marked Joe’s first tattoo, and he entrusted Siobhan Wilson, a junior tattoo artist at Cavalry Tattoo Studio in Norwich, with the task of bringing his vision to life. “Being my first tattoo, and one so sentimental, I didn’t want just anyone to do it,” Joe said. “I really trusted Siobhan to not only capture my idea but to apply her touch and passion, like the rest of her work.”
For Siobhan, 27, the project was a special challenge. “When Joe approached me with his idea, I was over the moon,” she said. “It’s always an honor to create something so meaningful for a client. Norwich is a city full of history and character, and it’s great to be part of such an artistic community.”
Siobhan, who has been tattooing for eight months at Cavalry Tattoo Studio, specializes in black and grey realism. She aims to craft personal, detailed pieces for her clients, and was thrilled to contribute to a design with such deep local and emotional significance. “Being able to build my career in Norfolk, which has always been home, is amazing,” she added.
