A woman from Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, has permanently etched a Hollywood star’s face on her leg after an unexpected encounter while he was filming in the area.
Annie Wilkinson-Gill, the owner of a local crystal shop, met actor Kiefer Sutherland while he was in Knaresborough filming Tinsel Town, a Sky Original Christmas movie. The chance meeting inspired Wilkinson-Gill to get a tattoo of Sutherland’s iconic portrayal of a vampire in the 1980s cult horror film The Lost Boys, one of her all-time favorites.
“Obviously, it’s an iconic cult classic, so I saved this space specifically for his character from The Lost Boys,” she explained.
While The Lost Boys holds a special place in Wilkinson-Gill’s heart, she’s also a fan of Sutherland’s other films, including Flatliners and Mirrors. “I do love a good horror movie, but when he’s in it, it’s a bonus,” she added.
Speaking to the BBC about her encounter with the star, Wilkinson-Gill described the experience as “very exciting.” She noted that Sutherland was “super friendly” and engaged in conversation with her and a couple of other fans. He even expressed his appreciation for the beauty of Knaresborough, where he had been filming.
Tattoo artist James Mellors, also known as Mel, expressed satisfaction with the tattoo’s outcome, saying he was “really pleased” with the result. Although Wilkinson-Gill admitted that getting a tattoo on her thigh was painful, she said she was “a happy customer.”
Filming for Tinsel Town continued this week in Wetherby, with stars Danny Dyer and Rebel Wilson also appearing in the movie.
