Fort Stewart now hosts its first-ever tattoo shop, Infamous Ink, offering soldiers and civilians a convenient place for artistic expression. The shop, which officially opened its doors on January 31, provides a new outlet for personal creativity and body art within the military community. Located on Georgia’s largest military base, Infamous Ink promises top-quality tattoo services in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
The opening of the shop is a response to the growing demand for body art among service members. Soldiers often struggle to find reputable tattoo artists while stationed in remote areas, making Infamous Ink a welcome addition to the base.
“We’re excited to offer a professional space where service members can get high-quality tattoos without leaving the base,” said Chris Schiavi, the shop’s owner and lead artist. “Fort Stewart has a strong, diverse community, and we wanted to create a space that reflects that.”
With over a decade of experience as a tattoo artist, Schiavi highlights the importance of creating a comfortable space for both newcomers and seasoned tattoo enthusiasts. Infamous Ink will offer custom designs, including military-themed tattoos for those wishing to memorialize their service or personal stories.
The shop is also focused on fostering a supportive environment for first-timers or anyone feeling uneasy about getting a tattoo. “Our artists will work closely with clients to ensure they are comfortable and confident about their designs,” Schiavi explained.
The opening comes at a time when tattoos have gained popularity in the military, aided by relaxed regulations in recent years. As more soldiers embrace tattoos as a form of personal expression, Infamous Ink offers a range of styles, from traditional and neo-traditional to realism and blackwork. The shop will also feature guest artists, bringing diverse influences to Fort Stewart.
Conveniently located at 112 Vilseck Rd., Bldg. 419, near the Commissary, Infamous Ink is easily accessible to both military personnel and civilians in the surrounding area. As the base’s first tattoo shop, it is poised to become an integral part of the Fort Stewart community, offering service members a chance to commemorate their experiences and express their individuality through art.
