Brooke Shields and Daughter Rowan Share Matching Tattoos

by Jessica

Brooke Shields and her eldest daughter, Rowan Henchy, have taken their mother-daughter bond to a new level by getting matching tattoos. The iconic actress and her 20-year-old daughter, both known for their close relationship, recently visited tattoo artist Matt Gutierrez at East Side Ink in New York City, where they marked a special moment with new ink.

The tattoo, which reads “And to a party,” was a symbol of their connection, and the duo was photographed proudly displaying the matching designs on their arms. Gutierrez, who shared a series of photos from the session, revealed in his post that he didn’t immediately recognize the famous faces he was tattooing. “Starting the year with the surprise of tattooing @brookeshields and @rowanhenchyy,” he wrote on Instagram. “I didn’t recognize them at first. It wasn’t until I finished the tattoo that I realized who they were. Sometimes, it’s important not to recognize the character but to know the person. It was a pleasure to meet them both—they make a great team.”

One of the images Gutierrez shared shows Shields and Rowan posing with their heads together, arms extended to reveal the fresh tattoos. Another close-up captured the delicate script in Rowan’s handwriting, adding a personal touch to the artwork. Shields later reposted a photo of the tattoo to her Instagram Story, captioning it, “Another matching tattoo with my bug,” a nod to their close relationship. Rowan had also shared a similar post, writing, “Mother-daughter bonding.”

This isn’t the first time the pair have shared matching tattoos. In 2021, they celebrated Rowan’s high school graduation with coordinating ladybug tattoos—Shields chose to have hers on her wrist, while Rowan opted for an ankle design. At the time, Shields described it as “a special graduation gift and memory with my girl,” adding, “I’m so proud of you, I love you more than words can say.”

The new tattoo marks yet another milestone in Shields’ life as a mother. In a recent interview with Real Simple, she discussed how she teaches her daughters about beauty standards. “I don’t shy away from telling them they’re beautiful because they are, in my eyes as a mother!” Shields said. “But beauty means different things to different people and cultures, and it’s not all that you are—it’s just one part of your individuality.”

Both Shields and Rowan’s visible tattoos represent not only a deep familial bond but also a reflection of their shared values and love for one another.
