David Bromstad, known for his work on “HGTV Design Star,” has a striking collection of tattoos that reflects his love for pop culture. Initially starting with a more minimalistic look, Bromstad has transformed his body into a canvas featuring various artistic pieces inspired by his favorite franchises.
One of the most recognizable tattoos is a large Mickey Mouse on his right arm. Interestingly, this piece includes not just one, but five Mickey Mouse images. In a 2018 Instagram post, he showcased the design, explaining, “There’s my Mickey in drag!” He has expressed that this tattoo is one of his favorites, stating, “My Mickey Mouse tattoo is the most joyous. I love it so much. He not only makes me happy, but he also brings joy to everyone around me.”
Bromstad’s love for Disney extends beyond just Mickey Mouse. In 2019, he added a tattoo of Cinderella’s castle on his thigh. He shared his excitement on Instagram, saying, “My thigh never looked more magical.” Even though he no longer works for Disney, he feels that the influence will always be a part of him.
In addition to Disney, Bromstad has a tattoo of Hogwarts on his other thigh, paying homage to the “Harry Potter” series. He explained that while Disney and Harry Potter may not be related, they both contribute to making the world a more magical place. He specifically requested a unique design for Hogwarts, wanting it to differ from his Cinderella castle tattoo. The result was a simple, black outline of the school, accompanied by the word “Magic” beneath it, contrasting with the “Fantasy” under the castle.
As for future tattoos, Bromstad has plans to continue expanding his collection. He shared his ambition with Tattoo Co. Orlando, saying he aims to have nearly half of his body covered in ink. “I’m a blank canvas that needs to be filled!” he stated. Fans can expect to see more of his bold tattoos in his signature selfies as he adds to his impressive collection.
