Vallejo, California — A tattoo artist in California is facing criticism after sharing a client’s first-ever tattoo, which many believe is excessive for a newcomer.
Javi, a tattooist with nearly 15 years of experience, has built a following of almost 71,000 on Instagram by showcasing a variety of tattoos, from large back pieces to simple designs. However, his recent post featuring a face tattoo has sparked outrage.
In September, Javi tattooed a boy’s birthday in Roman numerals on his sideburn, marking it as the client’s first tattoo. “My guy got his first tattoo on his face,” Javi wrote alongside a video of the new ink, adding, “I believe this is the first time in my career I do a face tat as someone’s first tattoo!”
The reaction was swift, with many commenters expressing shock and disapproval. One user remarked, “Great way to ruin your life,” while another questioned the decision, noting that many artists avoid tattooing hands or necks for first-timers, let alone faces.
Javi’s post highlights the ongoing debate over appropriate tattoo choices, especially for individuals new to body art.
