ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s first tattoo convention has made a strong comeback for its second year.
The Rail City Tattoo Festival, which debuted last year as the state’s first-ever tattoo convention, brought together over 40 talented tattoo artists from across the country to St. Albans, showcasing their skills and creativity.
The event drew a crowd of over 1,500 attendees, with many seizing the opportunity to get tattooed at the convention. Tattoo artists emphasized the importance of events like these in fostering community and encouraging more people to explore the world of tattoos.
Brant Newton of 181 Tattoo, who has been tattooing for nearly two decades, shared how the festival gave him a sense of belonging. “For years I felt like I was not part of the community. This event helped me connect with peers and friends for the first time in a decade. There’s mutual respect, and it gave me hope for the tattoo industry in Vermont again,” Newton said.
Festival organizers Jhon and Jodi Rodriguez are already planning for next year’s event, continuing to grow Vermont’s tattoo culture and community.
