WHEELING — The fourth annual Resurrection Island Tattoo Convention is back at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack. The event, in partnership with Breaking Skin Tattoo and Body Piercing of Bridgeport, runs from today, Friday, Oct. 11, through Sunday, Oct. 13.
This year, the convention will feature over 150 tattoo artists from around the United States. Attendees can also enjoy various vendors, activities, and live entertainment throughout the weekend.
Many tattoo artists will be available for live tattooing, with some offering walk-up options. Others may require a consultation and an appointment. A complete list of attending artists and samples of their work are available on the event website.
The convention will also showcase an exciting lineup of live entertainment. Local favorite Tongue N’ Cheek will perform tonight, followed by metal band NeverWake on Saturday and hard rock band Theriaca on Sunday. Additionally, there will be live performances from suspension artists, burlesque performers, and the World’s Most Tattooed Man throughout the weekend.
The Resurrection Island Tattoo Convention will be open from noon to midnight on Friday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 12. On Sunday, Oct. 13, the hours will be noon to 7 p.m. Weekend passes and discounted day wristbands can be purchased on the convention website.
“Our goal through this convention is to bring open-minded individuals together to express their creativity and individuality,” said Lexie Lopez, the convention coordinator. “Whether it’s giving or receiving tattoos or just stepping in for the first time, we want to show the positive impacts and genuine people within our community.”
Additionally, the Wheeling Island Casino-Hotel-Racetrack is offering five $500 gift cards to Breaking Skin Tattoo & Body Piercing. Players can earn entries by collecting 100 base points in slots or table games through Saturday. The drawing for the gift cards will take place at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
