FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two renowned Fresno tattoo artists, known for their expertise in surrealism, portraiture, and Asian-cultural designs, have teamed up to open a new tattoo shop, Invictus Ink, in Downtown Fresno. This venture marks the culmination of their hard work and self-belief.
Michael Arreguin and Andy Syvichith, co-owners of Invictus Ink, first met while working at a previous tattoo shop. Their mutual respect and friendship, built on their reputations as artists, motivated them creatively.
“Being an artist, you hear about other artists,” Arreguin said. “We challenge each other because we’re both competitive. We see each other’s work and think, ‘I want to do that too.’”
Since March, the duo has been preparing for the grand opening of their shop.
“It’s a little surreal. I’m not used to the attention,” Syvichith admitted.
Arreguin specializes in black-and-gray surrealism and portraits, while Syvichith focuses on Asian-inspired and cultural tattoos, as well as anime and dark designs. Their new location has sparked even more creative ideas for their business.
“We’re trying to be more innovative,” Arreguin said. “Customers can book online and have their forms ready when they arrive.”
Syvichith highlighted the importance of their digital efforts in connecting with the community.
“That’s another reason why we’re in Downtown,” Syvichith explained. “It’s cool to mingle with other business owners, see what’s happening, and find ways to grow together with the city.”
Arreguin added, “We want to host paint nights for kids, showing parents how being an artist can enrich their children’s lives.”
The artists are eagerly anticipating the grand opening, proud of their achievements and looking forward to the future. They encourage others to persist despite setbacks and challenges.
The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Invictus Ink will take place on Friday, June 7, at 5 p.m. at 624 Broadway Street in Downtown Fresno.
