Ed Sheeran has opened up about the personal significance behind his tattoos, revealing that many of them are deeply connected to his family, particularly his daughters.
During a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Sheeran shared the stories behind his ink, explaining how his tattoos serve as milestones in both his career and personal life.
When asked if any of his tattoos had a special meaning, Sheeran said, “Each and every tattoo on my body has got stories.” He went on to explain that his left arm reflects the first five years of his career, while his right arm represents the next chapter of his journey. His chest and back tattoos mark his more recent experiences, including a particularly meaningful tribute to his children.
“My back is kind of like the most recent one,” Sheeran said. “I got my kids’ footprints the week they were born. I quite like that because they’re tiny, and obviously, they’re a lot bigger now.”
In a touching nod to his daughters, the English singer-songwriter revealed that his legs have become a canvas for his children’s creativity. “My legs have actually started being my kids’ drawing book,” Sheeran explained. “So my daughter’s just done a little bunny rabbit for my leg, and you can put the date of it. It’s quite nice seeing it.”
The Shape of You singer also shared that his daughters, Lyra and Jupiter, often inspire his new tattoos. When asked whether his daughters request the tattoos or if he asks them, Sheeran laughed and responded, “Sort of that, yeah. Now she’ll draw something and be like, ‘Get it as a tattoo.’ But yeah, I think I’m gonna get one for each of them every year.”
Sheeran, who shares his two daughters with wife Cherry Seaborn, has always been open about the importance of family in his life. His tattoos are a beautiful reflection of that deep connection.
