Fundraiser Saves Ipswich Tattoo Artist’s Beloved Cat, Max

by Jessica

Sofiya Belousova, an Ipswich tattoo artist, has been overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers after a fundraiser raised over £2,500 to help save her cat, Max, who was facing a life-threatening health crisis.

Max, who has been a cherished member of Belousova’s family for over eight years, was first diagnosed with a bladder blockage in November 2022. Although he recovered quickly, tragedy struck again four months later when he was diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. Max became completely unresponsive, refusing to eat, and Belousova feared the worst.

With Max’s insurance covering only £1,000 per condition and the initial costs surpassing £2,000, Belousova found herself in a dire situation. Desperate to save him, she even used her rent money to help cover the expenses. “I decided to set up a fundraiser on the off chance that people would want to help, and I was amazed at the incredible response,” Belousova said.

In just a few days, she received more than £2,500 in donations from over 150 people, along with supportive messages from fellow cat owners. Thanks to the generous contributions, Max was able to receive the fluids and treatment he needed to alleviate his pain before undergoing life-saving surgery.

Belousova expressed her gratitude, saying, “It just shows that humans can do amazing things when we come together.”
