Vanna White, 68, has finally gotten her first tattoo, and she chose a special person to do it — her daughter, Giovanna “Gigi” Santo Pietro, 27, a tattoo artist at Lincoln Tattoo Company in Venice, California.
On March 10, White shared the heartwarming moment on social media, revealing that her daughter was the one to ink her for the first time. The video, filmed by White herself, shows the mother-daughter duo sharing a warm embrace before heading into the tattoo studio.
In the video, White reassures viewers, “She’s not making me do this. It’s my choice,” before revealing her decision to get a heart tattoo on her wrist. “So I can look at it every day because she did it,” she added. The two discussed the design, ultimately choosing a dainty hot pink outline of a heart.
As Gigi prepped her mother’s skin, she joked, “Are you nervous? I can feel you shaking.” White responded with a smile, admitting, “I don’t know if I can watch. I might pass out,” but proved to be tough, later mouthing, “I don’t feel anything,” to the camera as the tattoo was done.
Once the tattoo was finished, White couldn’t have been more pleased. “It looks perfect. It’s just what I wanted,” she said, clearly thrilled with the result.
White had expressed her desire to get inked with Gigi for years, sharing with People in 2022, “I want to have matching hearts where she’ll do a little heart on me and she’ll do one on herself. I feel like I need to do that because it’s her and it would be her on me.”
The TV icon also expressed how proud she is of her daughter’s tattooing career. “I said, ‘Gigi, why tattooing?’ She goes, ‘Mom, my art is on someone’s body for the rest of their lives.’ I was like, ‘That’s pretty cool.’ You have to be so good and confident. You can’t mess up. So she absolutely loves it,” White added. “She’s been doing that for the past three years and is doing a great job. I’m so, so proud of her.”
