Sergio Ramos, the iconic Real Madrid and Spain defender, is well-known for his love of tattoos, and his latest ink is no exception. The 38-year-old revealed a new tattoo on the side of his head, just above his left ear, during his debut match for Mexican club Monterrey on Sunday. The Spanish footballer, who recently joined Monterrey as a free agent after leaving Sevilla, helped secure a 3-1 victory over San Luis, with goals from German Berterame and Oliver Torres.
The tattoo, which features the number “93,” carries a special significance for Ramos. According to 433 on Instagram, the number is a tribute to his iconic stoppage-time goal in the 2014 UEFA Champions League final. In that dramatic match, Real Madrid faced their fierce rivals Atletico Madrid in Lisbon. Trailing 1-0 after Diego Godin’s first-half strike, Ramos scored a memorable 93rd-minute header to equalize, sending the game into extra time. His goal was a turning point, and Real Madrid went on to win 4-1, with Bale, Marcelo, and Ronaldo all scoring in the additional 30 minutes.
This goal marked a key moment in Ramos’ illustrious career, contributing to his first of four Champions League titles with Real Madrid, a team he helped lead to three consecutive tournament victories between 2016 and 2018.
Ramos’ new tattoo serves as a reminder of that unforgettable moment and the pivotal role it played in his career. Beyond his success with Real Madrid, Ramos also enjoyed five La Liga titles and two Ligue 1 championships during his time at Paris Saint-Germain from 2021 to 2023. He was also an integral part of Spain’s golden era, securing the 2010 World Cup and European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
This new tattoo is just another addition to Ramos’ growing collection of ink, each marking significant moments in his remarkable career.
