by Jessica

In a shocking twist on The Masked Singer, the identity of the mysterious contestant Tattoo was finally revealed, leaving fans in awe. It was none other than Carol Decker, the renowned lead singer of the iconic 80s band T’Pau.

Decker, known for her chart-topping hits such as “China in Your Hand,” expressed her excitement and disappointment after her unmasking. “I’ve loved it, and I’m going to say, I’m gutted! Everybody is amazing. It’s the best fun ever,” she said, reflecting on her time on the show.

Fans were quick to praise Decker’s performance, with one commenting, “She was amazing!!” Another fan remarked, “I thought the same as Tom Daley that Tattoo was Kym Marsh. But well done Carol – you were amazing and definitely shouldn’t have gone. Teeth should have gone tonight.” A third fan added, “I was shocked it was her, what a lovely lady she is too.”

In the same episode, the contestant Dressed Crab performed Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Let’s Groove,” prompting fans to speculate that the performer was multi-Grammy Award winner Gregory Porter. Tattoo, meanwhile, delivered an impressive rendition of The Killers’ “Human.” Other performances included Teeth’s version of Dua Lipa’s “Houdini,” which left the judges stumped, and Kingfisher’s rendition of “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls.

While this week’s edition of the show was less dramatic than last week’s, when singer Macy Gray stormed off after being voted off, fans were still treated to plenty of surprises. Gray, who initially refused to reveal her identity, later returned to the stage for an awkward unmasking. Her dramatic exit, which saw her walk off stage in full costume after being saved in favor of the still-unrevealed Bear, sparked a flurry of online reactions, with some fans calling it “awkward” and “a diva strop.” A source revealed that Gray was “totally blindsided” by her early exit, after reaching the final of the US version of the show in 2023.

Carol Decker, whose distinctive voice and commanding stage presence made T’Pau one of the most celebrated acts of the 80s, continues to be a significant figure in pop history. The band, founded in 1986 with guitarist Ronnie Rogers, rose to fame with their breakout single “China in Your Hand,” which spent five weeks at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in 1987. The song was part of their debut album Bridge of Spies, which achieved multi-platinum success. Another hit, “Heart and Soul,” reached No. 4 on the UK chart and was a top-5 hit in the United States, cementing T’Pau’s place in pop music history.
