Meredith Gaudreau, the widow of NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, has chosen a deeply meaningful way to honor her late husband by getting tattoos that incorporate his ashes. Johnny tragically passed away alongside his brother, Matthew, in a devastating crash in New Jersey during the summer of 2024. The incident, caused by an alleged drunk driver, occurred just a day before the Gaudreau siblings’ sister’s wedding.
As part of her grieving process and in an effort to keep Johnny’s memory alive, Meredith decided to work with Monmouth County-based tattoo artist Tay Nicole Clinch to create a series of tattoos that would forever keep a part of Johnny with her. For this unique tribute, the tattoo artist mixed Johnny’s ashes into the tattoo ink, ensuring a permanent connection to her late husband.
The first tattoo Meredith got was a delicate design of the word “forever” in elegant script, placed on the side of her left ring finger. The tattoo symbolizes the lasting love she will always have for Johnny, despite his untimely passing. Meredith shared that the tattoo holds significant emotional weight, representing her commitment to him and the bond they shared, which transcends even death.
In addition to the “forever” tattoo, Meredith chose to tattoo the names of their two young children, Noa Harper, 2, and Johnny Edward, 11 months, on her forearm. The tattoo of their children’s names serves as a poignant reminder of Johnny’s legacy and the family they built together. By having these tattoos, Meredith not only honors Johnny but also ensures that a part of him will always be with their children as they grow up without their father.
