A special moment unfolded at St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford when 71-year-old patient Jackie received her first tattoo, a heartwarming gesture made possible by the kindness of the local community.
Jackie, who has been a patient at the hospice, had long dreamed of getting a tattoo. “I’ve always wanted one. I’m 71 now, but I thought ‘why not?'” she said. Her wish was fulfilled when Meg, a local tattoo artist from BodyMods, a nearby piercing and tattoo studio, created three delicate hearts on her arm, each containing an initial representing her son, William.
Meg offered her services free of charge, making the moment even more special. “Jackie’s tattoo was a dream come true, and it happened thanks to the kindness and support of our amazing community,” said a spokesperson from St Michael’s Hospice.
The charity, which has been providing palliative and end-of-life care to individuals in Herefordshire and beyond for the past 40 years, expressed their gratitude for the local businesses and individuals who make such meaningful experiences possible. “From local businesses like BodyMods to the many people who support us, you help create moments like this. Whether it’s organizing a special experience, fulfilling a lifelong wish, or just sharing a laugh, we always strive to bring joy and comfort to those we care for. And we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for helping us turn dreams into reality.”
St Michael’s Hospice continues to offer free care to patients and their families, ensuring they experience comfort and dignity during difficult times.
