Pete Davidson made headlines last week when he appeared at a Los Angeles Clippers game with noticeably faded tattoos on his arms. The comedian, known for his role in “The King of Staten Island,” looked like a clean slate while enjoying the game with rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
Davidson has been gradually removing his tattoos over the years, a trend that is gaining traction among many celebrities. High-profile figures like Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, and Jessica Alba have also opted for tattoo removal, leading to a boom in the tattoo removal industry.
Lorenzo Kunze, owner of Inkless Tattoo Removal in Soho, shared that business is thriving. “We just had our best month,” he said. Kunze has worked with athletes from teams like the New York Giants and Rangers, as well as comedian Michael Rapaport. However, the majority of his clients are not celebrities; they are everyday millennials.
“Our biggest demographic is women and men between the ages of 25 and 35,” Kunze noted. He explained that many clients grow tired of their tattoos, particularly those acquired in impulsive moments during their teens and early twenties. Professional aspirations often motivate this desire for removal.
In a 2021 appearance on “Late Night” with Seth Meyers, Davidson discussed his decision to remove his tattoos. He explained that he wanted to avoid spending “three hours” covering them up on film sets. “I honestly never thought that I would get an opportunity to act, and I love it a lot,” he said.
